November 18, 2014 - The best way I know how to speak of God's love is to share my personal experience and what God has done in my life. So here goes.
As years passed, I married a beautiful young lady from the Philippines named Gina. She also trusted Jesus as her savior. Now we have a lovely 10 year old daughter. She goes to Sunday school and loves to learn about Jesus. God is good and has always been good to us.
My name is Joseph K. and I was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in the mid fifties. I came from a good catholic family and I tried to live a good life. Prayers to Mary, the 10 commandments, treat others as you would yourself, etc....you know the drill. But I was never sure about heaven though. There was always some doubt in my mind if I was good enough for God's holy heaven.
When I was 26 years of age, I was invited to attend services at a local baptist church, Rosedale Baptist church. I heard a clear presentation of the gospel for the first time in my life. I remember hearing the term "ye must be born again" in the message. I had heard it before, but I never knew what it meant or that it was actually in the bible. There it was plain as day, "Except a man be born again, he cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven."(John 3:16 KJV) Whatever this "born again" was, I knew I didn't have it and I needed to know what it was all about.
After hearing the gospel, the Holy Spirit had convicted my heart and I could not have peace until it was settled. For the first time in my life, I knew I was not acceptable into God's Holy heaven. I was as nervous as all get out and afraid I was going to die. Several months passed.
Then, in August of 1982, the pastor of the Rosedale Baptist church came to my home and shared the plan of salvation with me from the bible. After hearing what the Word of God said, I got on my knees admitting I was a sinner and asked Jesus Christ into my heart and life. I was immediately saved or in other words, "born again." My life was immediately and miraculously transformed! Now I know that heaven is my home! That was the most exciting and important day of my life. Praise the Lord for His mercy endures forever!
