A Schwinn Bicycle Story

1974 Schwinn Fastback Sting-Ray
My personal encounter began in 1985 when I purchased a 1974 Schwinn Sting-Ray Fastback from a Salvation Army thrift store for $13.50. I decided to keep it as a collectors item. But like a fool I hung it outside under my deck and forgot about it. As the years passed the weather took its' toll. It was all rusted, the seat faded, the brakes were locked, the chain froze up and I thought it was ready for the dump. I was surprised that with a little lubricant and polishing how easily it cleaned up and came back to life. That was when I realized how well built Schwinn bikes were.

I've always known that Schwinn bicycles were the most coveted bikes in America, and now I understand why. As a child I never owned one and I envied anyone who had the privilege to have one.

The Schwinn Bicycle Company has a fascinating historySchwinn was the world leader in quality, safety and innovation in the bicycle industry. They produced the safest and highest quality bicycles in the world.

I chose to create this blog revolving around the accomplishments and setbacks that surfaced during those years. It is my desire that you find "Schwinn-Go Bicycle And Fitness" an informative, fun and helpful resource.
